Tipper specialist MEILLER is expanding its capacities in Austria to meet rising demand. The new plant in Oed-Öhling will con-centrate production in one location in the future.
In Austria, around 1,500 tippers are built each year in the two plants in Waidhofen and Asten. The turnover of the MEILLER subsidiary in Austria amounts to about 33 million euros per year, and the trend is rising. However, capacities at both sites are reaching their limits and the logistical challenges involved in runnig the two factories, which are some 65 kilometers apart, are huge. Due to the good business development and the goal of sustainable growth, an expansion of production is necessary. Therefore, the management decided to dissolve the two existing plants and concentrate the entire production in one location.
The new location in Oed-Öhling is halfway between the plants in Waidhofen and Asten. The nearly 6-hectare property, directly at the motorway exit towards Vienna, offers MEILLER optimal development opportunities. An office building and a production building with three hall bays and more than 12,000 m² gross floor area are planned, in which all 85 employees from Waidhofen and all 35 employees from Asten will find a new workplace. A total of 22 million euros will be invested in the new location, which could already be completed by the end of 2019.
"Oed is easily accessible for the employees from both existing locations, the Ybbstal and the Mühlviertel. We hope that the entire workforce will take this important and right step with us", says MEILLER Managing Director Herbert Haselsberger, who assumes that the company will grow to a workforce of 150 to 160 employees in the medium term.
